Fundraising and Volunteering

Fundraising

The village hall is a registered charity with trustees, managed by a committee. As such, we do not receive any government or local authority funding, and need to raise funds for capital projects and other activities that extend beyond our normal operations.

The following items are things that are most pressing targets for our fundraising activities:

  • New, more comfortable chairs
  • Improved windows in the Peter Griffits Hall
  • A new roof for the hall
  • Repair or replace the floor in the main hall
  • Redecoration of the main hall

Clearly, some of these items are very expensive, and we will be applying for various grants, especially for the new roof, but every donation helps, and we are very grateful for all support we have received to date.

Heart of the Community

Courier Newspapers in conjunction with Axa PPP are running a community award again this year, and the village hall has submitted a project comprising some of its refurbishment activities. Please vote for us (project L13). You need to buy the Courier and send in the voting form. Forms are in the paper for the first three weeks in May, and need to be sent to the Courier by 23rd May. You can vote as many times as you like, but need to submit all votes on the forms in the newspaper. Thank you for your support.

New chairs

The existing blue plastic chairs are now very old, and not especially comfortable. We are proposing to replace them with some new, upholstered chairs, and have just purchased the first batch. However, they cost about £30 each, so donations would be much appreciated, since we are hoping to support the acquisition of all of them by donation if we can. See the relevant handout about the chairs; if you want to make a donation, please fill it in and drop it and your cheque in at the office. If you are a UK tax payer, please can you also gift aid your donation, so your donation will go even further.

Easyfundraising

We have just set up an account at: http://easyfundraising.org.uk/

If you routinely buy things from online stores (eg Amazon and eBay) you can help us raise money at no cost to you.

easyfundraising.org.uk has a relationship with over 500 well-known online stores and brands; you just need to register and select Forest Row Village Hall as your cause. Then, every time you buy things online from the retailers, if you buy via the link at easyfundraising.org.uk we will get a small percentage of your purchase. And it costs you nothing.
