The Sophie Eastwood Dance Academy was founded in 2002. A fabulous dance school in the heart of the Ashdown Forest with a professional yet fun approach to dance training.
The dance school provides classes six days a week in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap dancing for children aged three years and upwards. The classes are held in Forest Row Village Hall and are taught by Miss Sophie, Miss Katie and Miss Vicki – all qualified and experienced dance teachers. Their love for dance is clearly reflected in the way their classes are conducted; the children leave happy and inspired!
Over the years hundreds of children have taken ‘Royal Academy of Dance’ and ‘Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance’ dance exams with fantastic results. The school is famous for producing wonderful performances at the Chequer Mead Theatre in East Grinstead. Many children enhance their performance skills by auditioning and performing in local youth dance companies and pantomimes. Some children have performed in the West End in Shrek, Billy Elliott, Matilda, Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies and London Children’s Ballet ‘Snow White.’ Senior students who were keen to follow their desire to perform have taken places at Chichester University and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
